Understand Opioid Addiction and how to help combat it in your service area:
We wanted to make you aware of a training opportunity that could benefit Alaskan first responders. The State has received a National Health Emergency (Opioid) grant. Under that grant, The Addictions Academy teaches a six-hour, 21-topic course called First Responder Addiction Education designed to help first responders better understand and be part of the solution to combat opioid addiction, and to help keep themselves and the people with whom they regularly come in contact with safe. On a first-come, first-served basis, the grant funds 20 Alaska first responder organizations at no cost to the organization. It is a $2500 value and all training must be completed by May 31, 2021. First Responders include police officers, troopers, firefighters, EMTs, Search and Rescue, and any other front-line crisis workers.
At least one actual first responder from each of the 20 organizations must be an enrolled participant in the training, but to make it a community-wide solution, any other stakeholders that the first responder organization invite are welcome to attend the training.
To register your service to provide this valuable training to your providers, contact Cali Estes at caliestes2015@gmail.com or call her at 800 706 0318 ext 2. She can provide you with a list of the dates that are currently available.
