CPR Instructor Resources

This page contains many of the resources you will need to provide the American Heart Association's (AHA) CPR course and to assist with certifying and recertifying your AHA Instructor certification. Please contact our Training Center Coordinator at training@iremsc.org if you have questions or need additional resources.

AHA 2025 Updates

AHA has started rolling out the 2025 updates. Every Training Center must move over to the 2025 curriculum and books by MARCH 1, 2026. IREMSC will continue supporting the 2020 curriculum and will have 2020 books until February 28th, 2026. If your students take the 2020 curriculum now, they do not need to take the 2025 curriculum until their next renewal date.

AHA instructors will need to do updates for all of their disciplines by February 15, 2026. To complete the updates do the following:

Go to ShopCPR.heart.org
Sign in with your Instructor Atlas login
Select Product Type then Instructor Materials
Take the updates for the AHA disciplines you teach. You will need to take an update for ALL of the various classes that you hold an instructor card in.
Once completed, email the course completion certificate to admin@iremsc.org, referencing your instructor number.

AHA Instructors Network - ATLAS

To teach AHA courses, all new instructors must be registered and aligned with IREMSC in the American Heart Association's Instructor Network - ATLAS. This site also provides up-to-date and reference information on ECC programs and science. To register, go here: AHA Instructor Network - ATLAS.

NEW INSTRUCTORS - INITIAL FORMS

New Instructor Checklist Packet

To be eligible for renewal, you must have taught at least four AHA courses during your current two-year certification period.

You may renew using one of the following options:

Option 1: Monitored Class
Teach one class monitored by an IREMSC Training Center Faculty (TCF) member. Your certification must still be valid at the time of the class. A minimum of 30 days’ notice is required to schedule a monitored class through IREMSC. You may also coordinate directly with a TCF.

Option 2: IREMSC-Scheduled Monitored Class
Contact the IREMSC Training Coordinator at training@iremsc.org to be monitored during one of IREMSC’s regularly scheduled CPR classes. Your certification must still be valid at the time of the class. A minimum of 30 days’ notice is required for scheduling. There is no guarantee that a course listed will be taught because a minimum number of students is required.

Option 3: Retake Instructor Course
Register for and complete a CPR Instructor course. The most recent AHA Instructor Essentials completion certificate is required. Instructor courses are scheduled quarterly, but also have a minimum student limit and may not be taught in a given quarter.

Important:
Renewal must be completed before your certification expires. If your certification expires, you must retake the full instructor course. No exceptions or extensions may be granted.

Required Renewal Fees

A monitoring fee - IREMSC collects this and pays the TCF after your renewal is completed. (The monitoring fee is waived if you are monitored during one of IREMSC's regularly scheduled CPR classes)

The cost of your renewed instructor card.

The cost of a provider card to match your instructor card.
